Hi Daniel, Welcome to ASPNET newsgroup. As for the Control State you mentioned, it does become a new concept for managment asp.net control states in 2.0. The ControlState is mainly designed for storing code logic stats for webcontrol while the ViewState targeting storing control's UI related states. Also, the default persistence of Control State is also like the ViewState in page's hidden input field... So we should also take care when using it since misusing of them will make our page's size increase extremely ... Thanks for your response and also glad to work with you ag![]() As for Control State, it is a new feature for control developers to mantains some critical control datas. So far I'm not sure about any specific white paper, however, the MSDN's (for VS2005 , .NET 2.0) webcontrol development sections has introduce it and comparing with normal viewstate, you can search in your local MSDN through the following subject: "Developing Custom ASP.NET Server Controls" Also, here is the web link for it: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/zt27tfhy.aspx Steven Cheng Microsoft Online Support Get Secure! www.microsoft.com/security (This posting is provided "AS IS", with no warranties, and confers no rights.) -------------------- | Thread-Topic: Did "Control State" made it in ASP.NET 2.0 | thread-index: AcX2jKnP0Y4S7GgdTymS8jHECQsztw== | X-WBNR-Posting-Host: 153.95.95.93 | From: "=?Utf-8?B?RGFuaWVsIFdhbHplbmJhY2g=?=" daniel.walzenbach (AT) newsgroup (DOT) nospam | References: <eWeKe$g9FHA.4004 (AT) TK2MSFTNGP14 (DOT) phx.gbl gr$mnMj9FHA.4028 (AT) TK2MSFTNGXA02 (DOT) phx.gbl | Subject: RE: Did "Control State" made it in ASP.NET 2.0 | Date: Thu, 1 Dec 2005 07:34:05 -0800 | Lines: 63 | Message-ID: <B96E31A1-67C3-473F-B141-49B4B926C9EC (AT) microsoft (DOT) com | MIME-Version: 1.0 | Content-Type: text/plain; | charset="Utf-8" | Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit | X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000 | Content-Class: urn:content-classes:message | Importance: normal | Priority: normal | X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.0 | Newsgroups: microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.aspnet.caching | NNTP-Posting-Host: TK2MSFTNGXA03.phx.gbl 10.40.2.250 | Path: TK2MSFTNGXA02.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGP08.phx.gbl!TK2MSFT NGXA03.phx.gbl | Xref: TK2MSFTNGXA02.phx.gbl microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.aspnet.caching:3 867 | X-Tomcat-NG: microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.aspnet.caching | | Hi Steven, | | good to hear from you again ;-) Do you have any background reading on this | toppic?
