Default Question regarding licensing - 11-04-2007 , 03:42 AM

I work for a company that supplies softwareand hardware tothe shop printing
industry. Generallyspeaking the customer will supply their own computers but
we are now making software that runs on 2003 server. An option the customer
has is for us to supply the server(i think with default of 5 cals) and I have
a question regarding server 2003. Most of these shops have maybe between 5 -
20 users. My questions are:

1. If they have a domain and they have a per seat licensing scheme and we
supply the server does it go on their licensing system if it is added to the
domain only? i.e. if it is left as a stand alone server how does the licening
work?

2. Does it make any difference if the server is purchased or leased by them?

Thanks

Product licensing questions are best asked directly to your Microsoft rep.
It's unclear to me if you are talking about licenses for your own software
or licenses for WS 2003, as you use the term "server" to imply hardware.
In public forums, such as this one, you won't typically find Microsoft reps,
just people trying to help others.
