Default Many problems after installation of VS .net 2003 Academic - 09-06-2003 , 01:05 AM

After i install Visual Studio .net 2003 Academic, I go to
new, and then files and I can only
create "General", "Visual C++", and "Script" files. If i
go to projects, and I create a C# Windows Application
Project, i get an Error saying "ClassFactory could not
supply the requested class". I have uninstalled, and
reinstalled.

Can anyone help me?

Are you running Norton AntiVirus? If so, was it running when you installed?
In either case, try Visual Studio with Norton shut off.
Other references I've found to this error indicate a variety of solutions,
all pretty severe.
I know you reinstalled 2003, but did you manually delete references to
"Visual Studio" from your registry after uninstalling? Editing the registry
is a high risk maneuver, do so at your own risk. One reference I found in
groups.google.com indicated that formatting the herd drive and reinstalling
the OS, then reinstalling Visual Studio solved the problem.

You may want to check your environment variables and the
path to your variables must be set up there. I have a
problem installing my version of .net I can not get the
file dncdev00.hxs to load from the CD #3of 5 CDs - do you
have this file and if so can you email me and I will try
and help you once I get mine installed?
thanks
Try and zip the file since it is 8 megs...
or do you have an ftp site that you can post it to?

Sincerely
Mike
