Default missing dvd rw on boot up (sometimes) - 08-02-2007 , 01:32 PM

Hi
can you please help I have a DVD rewriter that I am having a few problems
with at the moment. I have flashed the latest firmware to the unit, the
problems are as follows:- when powering up the computer at the wall socket
the led comes on the drive all ok, when switching on the computer if the
led's on the drive come on again at various intervals I know that the writer
will 100% load as my k drive. If when booting up only the led flashes when
the mains is switched on and no led's when I start the computer the drive
will not load I then have to drop the 12 volt supply from the unit and
re-instate the 12 volts in order for the computer to recognise the drive.
Once the drive is up and recognised on the computer there is no problems with
it. What I have since found is that if I just get the led's when I power from
the wall and no led's when I switch on the computer if I escape to the boot
menu I find nothing about the drive in cd group, if I get the led's flashing
on the drive then escape to the boot menu it shows usb cd rom 0 freecom dvd
+/-rw1 and will load ok,does anyone know what is going on. I have also
removed upper and lower filters in the registry. Many thanks.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

B Jones

OK, can you please tell us which version and edition of Windows you are
using so we can suggest a good group for your question?
This .NET programming group is not likely to yield too much in the way of
help.

It helps me show you how to find an appropriate group for your question:

You need a Windows XP group, rather than in this .NET programming group.
To find the group you need:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...D-2224A4FEB3EA

Then open your language in the TreeView on the left, scroll down to
"Windows", open and scroll down to "Windows XP" and
select a group from that category.
