Default .NET installation - 07-23-2003 , 12:31 PM

hi,

well! i jus installed VS.NET. now the problem is,
whenever i open VS.NET, it first shows the "Visual
Studio.NET license window" as if it starts normally. but
later a window with status bar opens saying, "Windows is
configuring Visual Studio. NET Professional". this
happens everytime. and the IDE opens only after 2 to 3
minutes.

can any one suggest me how to get rid of this.

Thank you

Thina

hi pete,

Thank you for the reply! well! it doesnt ask for the CD.
it jus keep loading ("shows installing") for 3 minutes
and then VS.NET opens. ofcourse if i cancel it VS.NET
opens. but its disgusting to see that everytime.

As the configuration progresses, does it prompt you for
CD's? If so, do you
load the CD's requested? I've recently seen a similar
situation on an
instructor PC in a classroom, but the window you mention
didn't appear
unless Help was accessed. That same window would appear,
causing (as you
indicate) a 2 - 3 minute delay every time Help was
accessed. If I dismissed
the requests for original distribution media,
the "configuration" process
would finish and the requested help would display. Only
when I carried a CD
set to the classroom and actually loaded the requested
CD's, did the problem
cease for good.
If you are being prompted for CD's, insert what's asked
for.

OK, next time let it go without canceling and see what happens. It *may*
then ask for a CD.
Let's hope someone else chimes in on this thread with alternatives!

Did you check Microsoft for Updates and install them?
Without more specific information about the hardware
you installed on, it is hard to help...
