Default Modify sdf database on a desktop application - 10-04-2007 , 04:08 AM

It's possible to modify an sdf database with a desktop-side application?
The better thing would be to have on the local disk the sdf file, modify it
and then copy the database to the right path of the device.

My best regards, Maurizio.

Solution 1: if you have visual studio 2005 , you can open the sdf file
in server explorer. you can modify the database in server explorer

solution 2: if you have sql server 2005 you can open the sdf file in
sql server 2005 management studio for modification

solution 3: in vb 2005 application add reference to
System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll. then you can access the sdf file using
sqlceconnection.

Yes definitely as vjay says. It's actually a fairly common scenario.

Sorry, I intended if there was a way to access and modify the data contained
in the sdf file. I think that the 3rd suggestion:

Quote:
solution 3: in vb 2005 application add reference to
System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll. then you can access the sdf file using
sqlceconnection.
is good for me. Is it right?
Sorry for my english.

My best regards, Maurizio.

Mauricio,

Use the 3rd option, yes.
