Default Service app that hosts COM objects - 06-23-2009 , 09:58 AM

Hi all!

I am looking at doing a service application with .NET that can host
it's own COM objects (like ATL exe service). Service app part, with
System.ServiceProcess etc seem clear to me.

But exposing COM objects out of that baby - I don't seem to be able to
google out any examples or experiences. For example, I know I can
expect security issues that should be attacked using
CoInitializeSecurity etc. Anything else? What about debugging-while-
developping?

Help?

TIA,
Goran.

Are you trying to access the COM objects from existing applications,
or are you trying to convert a legacy ActiveX exe into a service?
I've successfully converted an ActiveX server into a .NET service, but
I think a lot would depend on what it does and/or the depth of your
object model.
