Thread-Topic: .NET1.1 upgrade, now "'System.Windows.Forms.Form' cannot be design thread-index: AcV78YL4wG23O2ENQLOldRFF5lPpmA== X-WBNR-Posting-Host: 4.252.72.174 From: "=?Utf-8?B?c25ha2VfMms=?=" <snake2k (AT) discussions (DOT) microsoft.com Subject: .NET1.1 upgrade, now "'System.Windows.Forms.Form' cannot be design Date: Tue, 28 Jun 2005 07:56:06 -0700 Lines: 19 Message-ID: <8E0FC922-32EA-45B3-B437-57A5954CB727 (AT) microsoft (DOT) com MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000 Content-Class: urn:content-classes:message Importance: normal Priority: normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.0 Newsgroups: microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.setup NNTP-Posting-Host: TK2MSFTNGXA03.phx.gbl 10.40.2.250 Path: TK2MSFTNGXA01.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGXA03.phx.gbl Xref: TK2MSFTNGXA01.phx.gbl microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.setup:2930 X-Tomcat-NG: microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.setup I downloaded .NET 1.1, and before installing it I uninstalled .NET 1.0. When I started Visual Studio, it couldnt find the .NET compiler. So I uninstalled 1.1, reinstalled 1.0, and then reinstalled 1.1. Visual Studio kept on using the .NET 1.0 DLLs. I need to use the new forms dll, so I removed the reference to the old one and added the new one. Now everything works fine, but when I try to edit the form in the form designer I get this error: An error ocurred while loading the document. Fix the error, and then try loading the document again. The error message follows: myform --- The base class 'System.Windows.Forms.Form' cannot be designed. What is happening? When I go back to the old 1.0 system.windows.forms.dll the Form Designer works again. It sounds like .NET 1.1 isnt installing correctly, but it installs fine every time. I need some serious Microsoft help please. Thanks, Nate |
