Hi,

I've have tried to install .Net Framework 2.0 on my windows 2000 machine
with plenty of disc space and ram, over and over again without any luck.

After unpacking the files and the installation starts it stops after about 1
minute saying:
Property: DD_IE501FOUND_X86.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A 1BB8
Signature: SearchForIE501_ENU_X86,3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_009 0278A1BB8

I have tried to update and reinstall msi installer 3.1
I have tried to update and reinstall Internet Explorer 6 with service packs
etc.
I have tried to download Framework via redistributable and via windows
updatestart

....and soon I start to cry....

Do you have at least SP4 installed for Windows 2000?

Yep - I have SP 4 installed. A thing that maybe could have an influence on
the eroor is that I had a beta version of framework 2.0 installed, which I
also have uninstalled again.

Yes, you definitely have to deinstall beta versions before installing the
new ones. So if you deinstall that, can you now install .Net 2.0? Or does
it still not work?

Yes I did deinstall the beta version after my first try to install net 2.0
but it didn't help. The deinstllation went fine, but could there be any
fragments left that prevent the new installation to succeed?

This is the error message you're getting? There's no message in here, just
a bunch of characters. What is the actual error?

It does sound like there's something left over. You could look and see if
the .Net Framework directory is still there and remove it. Unfortunately,
W2K doesn't have restore points, either, so that's no use to you.
