Had I such a mail from you, I would get it printed, notarized, and framed.

And when compared with you last 200 newsgroup postings, it would undoubtedly
be declared a forgery.:-(

Microsoft works very hard to earn sarcasm and scorn.

Latest was Windows Update Catalog, for which Microsoft provides a feedback
link and doesn't charge a fee. I reported a sequence of two problems
which prevent installing a downloaded driver. Microsoft replied politely
with a set of five lies. I replied politely with an explanation of what
happens in each case. Microsoft replied politely with zero corrections
and more lies. I replied politely again. Microsoft replied politely with
zero corrections and more lies. If I had time, I would send off sarcasm
and scorn, but I didn't have time for it right then so I just dropped it.
Microsoft nearly always earns sarcasm and scorn. Exceptions are far rarer
than the usual kinds of exceptions we get from Windows.

Useless to who, exactly?

One doesn't get milk by beating the cow -- perhaps if your subtle
sarcasm, dripping with scorn, does not fns as many receptive ears as you
might like, you would eventually change the approach?

Or not, in this case. Those links go to the right place, and the right
people. They do.

Note that your contributions vie for attention with those genuinely
confused and those who have a kinder tone as well as those who work
harder to be clear in what they are trying to say. Is it that hard to
imagine why the ruder ones might be looked at with a more skeptical eye?

The 'Send comments about this topic to Microsoft' links are totally
useless. I used to try them.

Norman,

What about clicking the 'Send comments about this topic to Microsoft'
link in the bottom of these pages rather than posting here where it's
totally useless.

Though I can't quite figure out how to do what this page recommends:
"Creating a Database with a Neutral Code Page"
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa368057.aspx
I do appreciate that the author of that page understands ASCII.

Now, would it be possible for the author of the above page to teach
the author(s) of the following two pages:

"Localizing the Error and ActionText Tables"
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa369771.aspx
with its table of many "ASCII code page" numbers

"Checking the Installation Database Code Page"
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa367857.aspx
"a list of ASCII code pages"

Examples of being polite, without sarcasm, etc.?

You could just do it in your posts here! :-)

I for one would be a huge fan!
