I'm planning to buy a new laptop with XP. Although I want the interface to be in English, I also want to be able to write in Japanese. I have read that this option is available to Windows XP Professional, but is it also available in Windows XP Home and Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005? I would appreciate your input! |

Mostly, XP Home has it too. Last weekend for an experiment I installed the MSDN English-language version of XP Home with SP2. I could install support for Asian languages and enable text services on all applications, and it worked for applications like Notepad, but it didn't work for a command prompt (CMD.EXE). In a command prompt window I tried "mode con cp select=932" but MSDN English-language XP Home SP2 said that 932 was an invalid code page. Microsoft has told me at least twice that MSDN English-language products differ vastly from the North American versions, so you might have better results. Media Centre I haven't tried, sorry.
