Default Folders view NOT showing up in Windows Explorer bar! - 03-28-2006 , 03:08 PM

I can't view the folders in the Explorer bar of Windows Explorer- when it
opens up, the side bar is simply grey. When I click on View>Explorer
Bar>Folders, it toggles the sidebar on and off, and other views in the
Explorer bar work, but . As I use that view A LOT, it has become very helpful
to me, but I can't see it.
MIS dept. says there's probably a registry entry damaged or missing, but
they don't know what it is.
Any suggestions?

How does this relate to VJ#?

This is probably too late and not the answer you hoped for. I recently had the same problem with a computer I'm updating to Win98SE; don't ask; there was a registry problem followed by the folder problem and a general exchange of the "Explorer" interface for the "Internet Explorer" interface. I fussed with it for a day, even compared registry settings to a computer that worked, but was unsucessful. I reloaded Win98SE and after a little resetting of device drivers and programs, the problem was gone and the computer was running again.
