Default Setting a label is source code repository in TFS - 06-09-2009 , 10:04 AM

Hi;

First off, is this the right place to post questions on TFS?

Question is that I have my build engineer telling me that setting a
label on the TFS source code repository does not mark all checked
files with that lable but instead sets the label to that day and when
checking out by label you get the last version checked in that same
day - even if it was checked in after the label was applied.

Is this true? This strikes me as something they couldn't have wrong in
a shipping product.

thanks - dave

Hi David

This is the right place for TFS topics. However, you can also try TFS
forums in http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/category/vsts/.

A label is a list of (item, version) pairs. When you create a label, the
particular version for every item is specified. Then when you download
items in that label, only the revisions specified while creating the label
will be downloaded.

When you create a label, you might select a set of items with the "latest"
version. That means the label contains (items, latest version checked in at
that time) pairs.

Let me know if I haven't made it clear.
