Hi Jamie,
By VSS .NET you mean VSS 2005, is that right?
If yes, you should be able to checkout older versions from history, but only
when your database settings allow checkout local/older versions.
In SSAdmin, go to Tools/Options/General and unckeck "Only allow checkouts of
the latest version"
In any case, if you use checkout of older versions, you might find useful a
new setting in SSExplorer: in Tools/Options/General, "Always checkout the
working folder version of files". With this turned on, on checkout VSS will
automatically try to detect which version of the file you have and checkout
that version (so checkout from history may not be necessary).

In VSS 6.0 you could do a show history and checkout an older version. You
might do this because you worked on a file but forgot to check it out.
Then, when you check in the file it merges the server and local
file --using the checked out version as the basis. In VSS.net you can no
longer check out old files. Atleast you can't when the database is still
6.0, I haven't tried upgrading the VSS 6.0 database to .NET.
Has anyone else verified this? Does anyone know a way to do this in
VSS.NET? |
